Our chapters have a number of events upcoming, both HTCIA sponsored and of interest to HTCIA members:
Monday Dec. 6 from 6:30-9:30pm AT will be Atlantic chapter’s monthly meeting. Held simultaneously at the RCMP facilities in Halifax, Fredericton and St. John’s (each with their own A/V equipment), the meeting will include new board introductions, a training update from Wireshark University, and a panel discussion on the future of IT security and privacy. WebEx is also available, though chapter officers encourage both members and non-members to attend on-site.
Tuesday Dec. 7 at 12pm MT will be the Western Canadian chapter’s monthly meeting. A lunch hour meeting (BYOL) at the Nexen Building in Calgary, it will feature board elections, a discussion about 2011 chapter plans, and a memoriam for Lars Maul.
Wednesday Dec. 8, the Arizona chapter will hold its annual Christmas luncheon between 11am-2pm PT. Also a chapter meeting, the luncheon will be at Aunt Chillada’s in Phoenix.
Thursday Dec. 9 at 10am PT is the annual Silicon Valley/Bay Area chapter Christmas party. Lunch will be served aboard the USS Hornet, and prizes and a ship tour will be part of the package.
Thursday Dec. 9 is also the date of the New England chapter’s annual holiday party. The party will be held at The Living Room in Boston from 5pm until it ends.
In Atlanta, also on Dec. 9, the chapter is hosting a holiday luncheon with guest speaker Jim Persinger, PM Investigations.
The Asia Pacific Chapter Conference is going on between Dec. 8-10 in Hong Kong. A one day management track will be followed by 2 days of hands-on workshops delivered by experts from around the world.
The San Diego chapter is asking for all online ballots to be completed by Monday Dec. 13 so that it will be able to announce new board members at its TBA annual holiday party.
Tuesday Dec. 14 at 11am CT will be the Midwest chapter’s monthly meeting. It will feature a catered lunch at the ICE offices in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois, and will have available imaging devices for hands-on demonstrations.
Wednesday Dec. 15 at a yet-to-be-announced location in New York City will be the date for the Northeast chapter’s awards and holiday party.
Jan. 18 and Feb. 15 are the dates for upcoming chapter meetings in Austin (Texas). No meeting will be held in December.
The Ohio chapter, meanwhile, is sponsoring training from Teel Technologies. Running from February 7-11, the training will cover advanced mobile forensics and a Smartphone Boot Camp. Group discounts are available.
Finally, the Ottawa chapter notes that HTCIA members are eligible for a 10 percent discount on its upcoming SANS Security 401: Security Essentials bootcamp. Held between Feb. 21-26 in Gatineau, the training will cover 16 of the 20 Critical Security Controls. Register before Jan. 12 and you will additionally receive $400 off tuition.
